A Van to Transport Children from the Village of Los Sauces de Perez to Nearby Cuquio

The opportunity to become educated in the village of Los Sauces de Perez ends with an elementary education. The local junior high school is located in the town of Cuquio, about half an hour drive from Los Sauces de Perez. Since there are no employment or educational opportunities in the village after elementary school, young women typically marry young and begin having children early in life, as their only opportunity for their future.

The World Health Organization and other prominent international organizations recognize that the education of girls is imperative for population reduction and stabilization. Educated women have small families because they have career opportunities outside of the home.

Toyota of Santa Cruz has offered to sell us a van at reduced expense, for the purpose of transporting students to and from Cuquio during the week for school. The municipal president of Cuquio, Juan Carlos Gutierrez, has assured me that if we provide the town with a school transportation vehicle, he will provide a salaried driver for the vehicle and all of the needed fuel and vehicle maintenance fees.

All of the girls and women in the photo below are anxious to continue their education. Please donate generously for this cause. Literally, their future is in your hands.
